2010 season update:

Well the game fishing season is now well under way and I must say to date it has been a good one for Crazy Horse and all who have fished off her.

The season kicked of with a Big Eye tuna early in January and since then we have had a great time on the Striped Marlin. To date (15/3/2010) we have accounted for 17 marlin.

From January to mid February we fished the Moukau Trench some 40 miles west of Kawhia. Very little bait fish but the marlin where everywhere. Some days we had up to 5 or 6 bites. Our best day was day one of the N Z Nationals where we accounted for 3 fish tagged. We also dropped 2 others in the space of 3 hours. Had to remind ourselves that we were not at the Three Kings.

Two days later we boated a large stripy and when weighted it went 167 kgs, the heaviest for the nationals 2010. That makes it two in a row as last year we got the heaviest with one going 157 kgs. Roll on next year.

Of late we have been fishing around the 50 mt mark of Kawhia, huge bait balls of mackerel and plenty of marlin to boot. Of the 17 marlin caught for so far we have tagged and released 14 to swim away for another day. Ten fish have been caught by first timers and they are now caught up in the fun and games of big game fishing.

Will fish off Kawhia for another couple of weeks and will then head north to the Three Kings to get into some late season action. What a season so far!!!

Crazy Horse is surveyed for ten passengers in-shore fishing and for four passengers for your game fishing off-shore adventures.

The West coast fishery off Kawhia is relatively untouched due to its isolation. All species of fish abound in the area at certain times of the year from huge spawning Snapper, xos Kingfish, massive Bass and world record Striped Marlin. Crazy Horse is well placed to give you the ultimate fishing or any other adventure you wish to put together.
